This sketch, done in 2B pencil and willow charcoal, is based off a photo by Brigitte Tohm on Unsplash. I am aiming to sketch hands in action for 30 consecutive days.

This quick portrait was done in graphite and willow charcoal, based off a reference photo from one of my ArtTutor.com classes (unfortunately, I don’t remember which one).

Today I drew a poppy using willow charcoal, vine charcoal and white “charcoal”. I riffed off the Artists Network Drawing Together episode (102) but mostly just used the reference photo (after grayscaling it). For better or worse, not much following along.

This drawing was done on regular drawing paper (Blick Studio) using willow charcoal. It was based on a reference photo provided in Artists’ Network Drawing Together episode #71.

Quick willow charcoal sketch done today after work.

Today for her Patreon members, Karen Margulis had a photo demo of painting a shiny vase in soft pastels. I used the reference photo provided, but decided to draw the vase in charcoal first, and later filled in the shapes with the colors I saw using pastel pencils. This was done on plain ol’ drawing paper.

This study is based off a reference photo used in Jane Lazenby’s “Drawing the Human Figure” class on ArtTutor.com (which is closing in March 2022).

I drew this glass as a follow-along effort based on what I learned at The Drawing Source website.
