This is the week 15 painting for Jed Dorsey’s Mini Painting Challenge at Acrylic University. It’s called “Snowy Alley” and is based on a reference photo by Jed Dorsey taken in Indianapolis. I really enjoyed painting this one — which was unexpected.

L.A. Sunset.. After Glyn Macey
Glyn Macey is a British artist who paints in acrylics. I have his book Glyn Macey’s World of Acrylics: How to Paint Sea, Sky, Land and Life, and I’ve bought two of his online workshops (which focus on the NYC cityscape) which I haven’t started.
In his book there’s a photo of his painting of an L.A. sunset, which I liked and decided to try to do myself. 12×12 canvas panel.
Lighthouse in the Harbor
This 8×8 painting is another riff off a Mark D Nelson work in his “Learn to Paint in Acrylics With 50 More Small Paintings“. I also prowled Google for images of lighthouses to get further ideas.
If I were to paint this again, I would use masking tape so that my lighthouse would have straight lines. I’m mostly satisfied with the palette used.
Office Interior
Maybe someday I’ll get better at perspective. These photos were taken before Covid-19 hit.
